Built by people who grew up here.

Janel Safaris is a small operator based in Arusha. We plan and run every trip ourselves, no resellers, no subcontracted guides.

Our story

15 years guiding, one company since 2025.

Janel Safaris was founded in 2025 by a team with more than 15 years of guiding and consulting experience across Tanzania's hospitality industry.

After years spent working inside the industry, the team kept running into the same gaps — rigid itineraries, inconsistent guiding, service that didn't match the price. They decided to build the company they'd always wanted to book with.

We work across the Northern Circuit, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar, and we turn down more bookings than we accept during peak migration months so that vehicle numbers at each sighting stay low.

How we work

What stays the same every trip.

Four rules we don't bend, whichever trip you book.

01

Owner-operated

No white-labeling, no resold itineraries. Every trip is planned, quoted, and run by Janel staff.

02

Permanent staff

Our staff are salaried, year-round employees — many have been with us over a decade.

03

Low vehicle counts

We cap group size and decline peak-season overflow rather than crowd a sighting.

04

Giving back, in writing

Every booking funds tree planting, and a fixed share of each year's profit goes to two children's centres.

The team

The people you'll actually meet.

Planners in Arusha, guides on the road, and the people who keep the vehicles running.

Giving back

Two commitments, built into the price.

We don't plant trees or run children's homes ourselves. We fund local organisations that already do it well, and we tell you exactly how much goes where.

$10From every booking

Trees, planted by people who know how.

For every trip booked, $10 goes to tree-planting organisations working on the slopes of Kilimanjaro and around the northern parks. They choose the species and do the planting; we pay for it.

5%Of our profit, every year

Two children's centres, every year.

At the end of each financial year we share a fixed percentage of our profit with two centres caring for children in need. The same two, year after year, so they can plan around it.

01

You book

Nothing extra on your invoice. It's already in the price.

02

We set it aside

$10 per booking goes into a separate account the day you pay.

03

Partners are paid

Tree partners every quarter; children's centres once the year's accounts close.

04

We publish it

A short yearly note with the amounts paid and what each partner did with them.
