Moshi is a relaxed town of tree-lined streets on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro, at about 800 metres. It is the base for most Kilimanjaro climbs, and on clear mornings Kibo’s snowy summit rises over the rooftops.

Before and after your climb
Arrive at least a day before your climb to rest, meet your guide and check gear. After the climb, a night in Moshi gives you time for a hot shower, a celebration dinner and a good sleep. A gentle day trip before the climb, such as Materuni, helps with jet lag.
Getting there
